How remove blacklist domains or ip address

So you think your domain name has been blacklisted? Don't worry, it happens. Blacklists are great but they are also easy to get on. Any user complaint about spam or a poorly configured Mail Server can easily get you added to one.

First, you need to find the blacklist you are on. There are many blacklists. If your email bounced and you have the rejection message then it should say which one(s) you are on.

Before you begin, you need the IP address of your mail server. While people often refer to a persons domain name as being blacklisted, it is actually the IP address of the mail server that is blacklisted. There are a number of ways of finding it.
  • The easiest way is to visit MXToolBox and enter your domain name. It will return the MX record (IP Address of the mail server) associated with your domain name and then present you with an option to view blacklist data.
  • Run a Trace Route for your mail server. You will need to get the name of your mail server before you can do this. If you do not know the name of your mail server then start by trying mail.MyDomainName.com. If that does not work then contact your ISP.
Once you have the IP address of your mail server, you can easily see if you are on any blacklists by visiting one of these Websites.
You will need to visit each blacklist you are on for removal intructions.

Once you find the one(s) you are on then you will need to follow their instructions for removal. If it is a misunderstanding then it should be easy to get off. If it is a technical issue then you will need to work with your hosting company to resolve it.
